This 16th-century oak panel came to me in ruin.
The board had split along the join and most of the paint was lost — the sitter's face survived only as a shadow on bare ground. Over 1.5 years I consolidated the structure, cleaned the surface, and reconstructed the losses, bringing the portrait back to the state in which it was painted around 1565.
